What it is
Landlords will need each privately rented home to reach EPC C by October 2030. The spend required per property is capped at £10,000.
Planning now spreads the cost and the disruption, and lets you use funding that's open today, such as ECO4 until 31 December 2026.
Who it affects
- Private landlords with homes rated D or below.
- Portfolio landlords, letting agents and HMO owners planning works across several properties.
Funding that may help landlords
- ECO4 for privately rented homes rated E to G, where the tenant's household qualifies (closes 31 December 2026).
- Boiler Upgrade Scheme: £7,500 towards a heat pump, open to landlords in England and Wales.
- Warm Homes: Local Grant for privately rented homes in England where the tenants meet the income criteria.
- 0% VAT on insulation, solar, batteries and heat pumps until 31 March 2027.
