Questions
Renewables: your questions answered
Which renewable should I install first?
Usually insulation, then the heat pump, then solar and a battery. Insulation cuts the heat your home needs; solar and batteries cut what you pay for electricity, including the heat pump's. Our EPC Check ranks the upgrades for your home.
Can I get a grant for a heat pump?
Eligible homeowners, landlords and small businesses in England and Wales can get £7,500 off an air or ground source heat pump through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. The installer must be MCS certified and applies for the grant.
Is there 0% VAT on solar panels and batteries?
Yes. Solar panels, batteries and heat pumps installed in homes in Great Britain are zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027. EV chargers and air conditioning are charged at the standard rate.
Do you service renewables after installation?
Yes. Every solar, battery, heat pump, air conditioning and EV charger installation can go on an annual service plan; plans and prices are confirmed on request.
