Overview
Why bifold doors?
Bifold doors fold back in sections to open almost the whole wall to the garden. They're a natural fit for kitchen extensions and wide rear openings.
We fit aluminium bifolds from SMART (Visofold) and AluK in our Contemporary tier, Schüco in Engineered and Cortizo in Signature. Prices are for 3 m and 5 m openings.

Planning, regulations and timings
New or wider openings
Widening an opening needs a new steel or lintel, structural calculations and Building Regulations approval. Our in-house building team forms the opening and makes good afterwards, so there is no gap between trades.
Building Regulations and certification
Replacement windows and doors must meet Building Regulations for energy efficiency, safety glass, ventilation and fire escape. Each installation is certified through a competent person scheme such as FENSA, or signed off by building control, and the certificate is yours to keep for when you sell.
Survey to installation
Typically 6–8 weeks from survey to installation, agreed with you up front. One named project manager runs your job from survey to sign-off, and our own fitters do the work — we don't subcontract glazing.

Bifold or sliding doors — which is better?
Bifolds open the full width of the wall; sliders give bigger panes and fewer frames, so the view is better when they're closed. If the doors will be shut most of the year, sliders usually make more sense.
Do bifold doors need planning permission?
Replacing existing doors on a house usually doesn't. Widening an opening needs Building Regulations approval, and listed buildings, conservation areas and flats can need consent.
Can I have a flush threshold?
Often, if the outside drainage allows. A flush threshold needs the patio level and drainage designed around it, which we check at survey.
