Guarantees
Three kinds of guarantee — and what each one actually covers.
How they fit together
Who stands behind what
Manufacturer guarantee
Covers
- Defects in the product itself — frames, glass units, hardware, panels, inverters, batteries and heat pumps
- Length set by each manufacturer and product, confirmed in your written quote
Doesn't cover
- Damage, misuse or wear and tear
- Faults caused by installation (that's our workmanship guarantee)
- Lapses where the manufacturer requires annual servicing and it wasn't done
Workmanship guarantee
Covers
- The installation itself — fitting, sealing, fixings and making good
- Putting right any fault caused by how we installed the product
Doesn't cover
- Faults in the product (the manufacturer's guarantee)
- Later alterations or repairs by someone else
- Normal maintenance such as cleaning and lubrication
Insurance-backed guarantee
Covers
- Protects your workmanship guarantee if the installer stops trading
- Can protect your deposit, depending on the policy
Doesn't cover
- It doesn't extend what the workmanship guarantee covers
- Terms and limits are set by the insurer — we show the insurer and cover with your quote
System guarantees
Insulation and renewables
External wall insulation
System guarantees of up to 25 years are available through SWIGA or the system holder when the whole build-up comes from one certified system and is installed by an approved installer.
Cavity wall insulation
Cavity wall insulation can carry a CIGA guarantee where applicable, issued through the installer on completion.
Renewables
Solar panels, inverters, batteries and heat pumps carry manufacturer warranties, some of which require annual servicing. A service plan keeps those conditions met.

Questions
Guarantees: your questions answered
How long are LINX guarantees?
It depends on the product and system — guarantee lengths range from 10 to 25 years across what we install. Your written quote states each guarantee, who provides it and how long it lasts.
What's the difference between a guarantee and a warranty?
In practice the words are used interchangeably. What matters is who gives it (the manufacturer, LINX or an insurer), what it covers and for how long — all of which we set out in writing.
What happens if LINX stops trading?
That's what an insurance-backed guarantee is for: it protects your workmanship guarantee if the installer can no longer honour it. We show the insurer and the cover with your quote.
How do I make a claim?
Call 020 8914 7824 or email hello@linxrenewables.co.uk with your job reference. We'll arrange a visit, work out whether it's a product or installation issue, and deal with the manufacturer for you.
Does servicing affect my renewables warranty?
Often, yes. Many heat pump and battery manufacturers require annual servicing to keep extended warranties valid. A service plan keeps that condition met.
