How funded jobs work

From checker result to a funded install

Funded work follows a set process, so the funder can check every step. We manage it with you and keep you updated at each stage.
  1. 1

    Eligibility confirmed

We check your evidence — a benefit letter, council declaration or EPC — and the funder or council confirms you qualify.

  2. 2

    Retrofit assessment

A PAS 2035 retrofit assessor visits to survey your home and record its condition and energy use.

  3. 3

    Coordinator plan

A retrofit coordinator agrees a medium-term improvement plan, so measures go in the right order.

  4. 4

    Install

Insulation first, then heating. Installs must be complete before the scheme's deadline.

  5. 5

    Lodgement

The work is lodged with TrustMark, and a new EPC records the improvement.

  6. 6

    Funder audit

The funder checks the evidence pack, including photos and declarations.

  7. 7

    Paid

The funder pays for the funded measures. Any cost to you is agreed in writing before work starts.

Funded schemes need specific certifications for each measure. Where LINX isn't certified for a measure, the work is delivered through an approved ECO installer or funder partner, and we'll tell you who before anything starts.

Honest about grants

Straight answers, no pressure

Grant work attracts scams, so we keep it simple: plain results, evidence before promises, and no unsolicited calls.
  • Results only say likely, possibly or not eligible. The funder or council confirms eligibility from your evidence.
  • Benefit, income and health answers are encrypted, used only to check eligibility and deleted after 90 days.
  • We only call when you ask us to. Questions? Call 020 8914 7824.

Protect yourself from grant scams

  • Never pay upfront for grant-funded work. If anything isn't covered, you'll see the cost in writing before work starts.
  • We never cold call or knock on doors about grants. You only hear from us after you ask.
  • Check any installer on the TrustMark register before you agree to funded work.
  • Be wary of anyone promising funding before seeing evidence. Eligibility is confirmed by evidence and by the funder or council.

Questions

Grants: common questions

How does the grant checker work?

You answer nine short questions about your home, who lives there and how it's heated. The checker compares your answers with the current rules for each live scheme and tells you, scheme by scheme, whether you're likely, possibly or not eligible, and what each could pay for. It takes about 60 seconds.

Is the checker result final?

No. Results only ever say likely, possibly or not eligible. Final eligibility is confirmed by your evidence, such as a benefit letter or EPC, and by the funder or council.

Is grant-funded work free?

Some schemes, such as ECO4, can cover the full cost of funded measures, depending on eligibility. Others pay a fixed amount, like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. If any part isn't covered, you'll see the cost in writing before anything starts.

Why do you ask about benefits, income and health?

Because the schemes do. ECO4's benefits route depends on means-tested benefits, Warm Homes: Local Grant and council routes use household income, and councils can help households where someone has a health condition made worse by the cold. We only ask yes or no, never details.

How do you look after my answers?

Your answers stay on your device until you choose to send them. If you do, benefit, income and health answers are encrypted, used only to check eligibility, and deleted after 90 days, or sooner if you ask. They are never used for marketing.

What if I'm not eligible?

You can still save. Insulation, solar panels, batteries and heat pumps are zero-rated for VAT in Great Britain until 31 March 2027, and our Instant Quote Builder shows a price range in under two minutes.

Do you cold call about grants?

No. We never cold call or knock on doors about grants. If someone contacts you out of the blue offering grant-funded work, don't pay anything upfront and check them on the TrustMark register.

Who installs funded work?

Funded schemes need specific certifications for each measure. Where LINX isn't certified for a measure, the work is delivered through an approved ECO installer or funder partner, and we tell you who before anything starts.
