How it's priced
Priced after a free design survey
Every orangeries project is designed for its site, so we don't publish a misleading ‘typical’ price.
Overview
An orangery sits between a conservatory and an extension: solid brick pillars and part-solid walls, a flat roof perimeter, and a glazed roof lantern in the middle.
That gives you more privacy and a warmer room than a conservatory, with more light than a standard extension. Each orangery is designed and priced after a free design survey.
More solid wall and an insulated roof perimeter.
A central roof lantern lights the middle of the room.
Brickwork and frames chosen to suit the house.
French, bifold or sliding doors to the garden.

Good to know
Many single-storey rear additions fall under permitted development, within limits on depth, height and position. Those rights don't apply to flats and maisonettes, and they are restricted for listed buildings, conservation areas and homes where they've been removed. We check your property at the design survey.
Orangeries usually need Building Regulations approval because the roof and walls are more solid than a conservatory's.
Every one is designed for its site, so there is no honest 'typical' price. We measure and design it at a free design survey, and you get a written quote before anything is ordered.
Questions
Every one is designed for the site, so we price an orangery after a free design survey rather than quote a misleading 'typical' figure. You get a written quote before anything is ordered, and nothing is built until you've approved the design.
An orangery has more solid wall and a flat roof perimeter with a central lantern; a conservatory is mostly glass. Orangeries feel more like part of the house.
Usually, yes — its more solid roof and walls normally bring it under Building Regulations, unlike many conservatories.
A roof lantern on its own typically costs £2,500–£6,500 installed; in an orangery it's priced as part of the design. Indicative, supplied and installed in London and the South East, including VAT; prices updated 11 October 2026. A survey confirms the final figure.
