Overview
Aluminium gives you the slimmest frames and the widest choice of colour of any window material. Because it's so strong, the frames can stay narrow while holding large panes of glass — more daylight, cleaner lines, and windows and doors that match.
We fit four aluminium systems in three tiers: SMART and AluK (Contemporary), Schüco (Engineered) and Cortizo (Signature slimline). Every price below is a range for a typical size, installed and including VAT, so you can compare tiers before anyone visits.
Narrow frames hold big panes, so you see more view and less frame.
White, anthracite, black, any RAL colour, or a different colour inside and out.
Strong enough for wide bifolds, sliders and floor-to-ceiling glass.
A powder-coated finish that doesn't need painting.
Windows, French doors, bifolds, sliders and entrance doors from the same system.
SMART Alitherm Heritage gives a slim steel look for period and conservation-area homes.

Good to know
Replacement windows and doors must meet Building Regulations for energy efficiency, safety glass, ventilation and fire escape. Each installation is certified through a competent person scheme such as FENSA, or signed off by building control, and the certificate is yours to keep for when you sell.
If your home is listed, in a conservation area or covered by an Article 4 direction, changing the look of windows or doors may need planning permission or listed building consent. We flag this at survey and give you the product details your council will ask for.
Typically 6–8 weeks from survey to installation, agreed with you up front. One named project manager runs your job from survey to sign-off, and our own fitters do the work — we don't subcontract glazing.
Questions
A typical aluminium casement window (approx. 1.2 × 1.2 m) costs £1,050–£1,900 in our Contemporary tier (SMART or AluK) and £1,300–£2,300 in Engineered (Schüco). A whole house of 8–12 windows plus 2 doors in aluminium is typically £16,000–£30,000. Indicative, supplied and installed in London and the South East, including VAT; prices updated 11 October 2026. A survey confirms the final figure.
Not always — it depends on the look you want and your budget. Aluminium gives slimmer frames, more colours and bigger spans, and our Contemporary aluminium tier is typically 1.6–1.9 times the uPVC price. REHAU uPVC is the best-value way to get A-rated double glazing.
Start with the look and budget, then the brand. SMART and AluK (Contemporary) suit most homes; Schüco (Engineered) is for triple glazing, large spans and acoustic performance; Cortizo (Signature) is for near-frameless slimline glazing. The quote builder shows all three side by side.
Often, yes. SMART Alitherm Heritage gives a slim steel look that many period streets suit, but planning permission or listed building consent may still be needed. We flag it at survey and give you the product details your council will ask for.
No. Windows, doors and glazing are charged at the standard VAT rate — the 0% VAT relief covers insulation, solar, batteries and heat pumps, not glazing.
